The effect of ball milling on the structural, magnetic and exchange bias properties of Ni50Mn36Fe2Sb12 Heusler alloys was studied. The ball milled samples exhibited coexisting austenite and martensite phases at room temperature, while annealing supresses the austenite phase completely. Ball milling was found to reduce the grain size, which resulted in the weakening of the ferromagnetic properties.

Abstract When graphite is ball milled, Raman spectra and X-ray diffractograms of the products show increasing graphitic structural disorder with 1% and 10% cobalt addition. However, if sufficient cobalt (10% weight for weight) is added, this process is reduced in rate. This process is attributed to the cobalt stabilizing the graphitic structure during ball milling, thus reducing the degree of
quantity by ball-milling and annealing method. Changing the milling gas from N 2 to NH 3 results in different SiNNW size, and absence of amorphous SiO 2 surface layer in the N 2 case. The SiNNWs obtained from the N 2-milled Si are grown via OAG mechanism, while those produced from NH 3-milled Si are grown via VLS mechanism. SiNNW formation is
